During week five, grappling
and chi sao are practiced. Chi Sao is an important part of Wing
Chun as it teaches one to react without thought through feeling
the move of your opponent. This allows you to counter and strike
simultaneously. Chi Sao week is the favorite week for many
students as it is here they test their Wing Chun skills against
their Kung Fu brothers and sisters. Size means nothing in Chi
Sao- speed and skill prevail. Cum Lau techniques (seizing and
grappling) teach practical
techniques that will come in handy in self-defense situations.
This includes manipulation of the bone and muscle
(joint-locking), as well as striking and or pressing the
nerves, arteries and veins(cavities) of the body. Counters
to the various techniques are also covered in this week.

Note: internet video
instruction will be available shortly- covering all aspects of
the programs available at Ling Nam.
