Sifu Michael Manganiello

Sifu Michael Manganiello began his martial arts studies in 1967 at the age of nine. The majority of that time was spent studying under some of the mostSifu highly respected Sifus (masters) in New York's Chinatown. In addition to being an accredited Sifu in both the Hung Ga and Wing Chun systems, he has received extensive training in Choy Li Fut, White Crane, White Eyebrow, Dragon Boxing, 7-Star Praying Mantis, Yang Style Tai Chi, Lama, and Southern Praying Mantis. Sifu Manganiello has performed at 26 Federal Plaza (FBI, ATF, INS) as well for the Chinese-American Medical Association, the Asia Society, The Chuang Yen Monastery, including a grand performance for the Dalai Lama of Tibet.

There are martial arts instructors out there who haven't had the opportunity to test their knowledge in life and death situations or even real-life situations outside the tournament circuit or training hall. In many cases, many martial arts practitioners(both teachers and students) are working from a hypothetical basis without actual "hands-on" experience at a) having applied a technique in a real life situation and b) knowing the true effect of various strikes or techniques on an opponents of various builds and statures (what may work on one, may not work on another).  The fact that Sifu Michael "acid tested" his techniques during his formative years growing up on the rough and tumble streets of the Bronx, sets him apart from many and has earned him the respect of his colleagues.  The techniques that he teaches are techniques that are "battle-proven"  Sifu's emphasis when teaching techniques is not so much on memorizing specific movements, but rather to understand the mechanism by which a technique works, thus enabling the practitioner to adapt the technique to opponents of various builds and skill levels. The added value of his "testing" is immeasurable- ask around!

Note: internet video instruction will be available shortly- covering all aspects of the programs available at Ling Nam.
